Content and Language Objectives

I need to try to post my content and language objectives more! After taking SIOP last year, I was good about posting them for my first grade classes (I decided to focus on one grade at a time). However with five different grades, I feel overwhelmed to post them all. Plus we only have two whiteboards in the gym (which are usually being used) so it's hard to figure out an area for them. Maybe I could get an easel and just flip through the pages for each grade? Whatever I decide, I need to get back in the swing of posting them!

  1. Jill, I find it hard in my classroom to do content and language objectives for all the subject areas, so I try to focus on a few day. I figure it's a start! I'd assume that your content objective for each grade could stay the same for awhile, so a flip chart would be a good idea. As far as language, that would change daily. A whiteboard would be ideal (and easy to clean and re-do), otherwise a large piece of butcher block paper on the wall would work? Then cross out the lesson prior's, and write a new one? Each grade could have their own section of the large paper.

  2. I agree...it is a long process. I use sentence strips and a key ring. I think your strategy with one grade at a time is perfect. I look in the quarterly check in and make lang and content objectives for the essential questions to start and if I have time for all my daily lessons. That way I at leas hit the really important lessons. Let me know if you come up with a way to present that works well.
