Good Mornnig Teachers!
So after a lot of thinking I have decided to make my professional development goal geared towards the Writer's Workshop. I plan to implement the 6 traits into my writer's workshop this year. I also plan to meet with small groups that are based on what I see when I am having teacher conferences with students. I plan to get my small groups started by November. I am still meeting with individual students to assess their needs.
Are you using a conferring notebook and taking anecodotal records to figure out your writing "strategy groups?" Instead of carrying around a huge Lit. binder for conferring, I have found it helpful to walk around with just a pencil and post it notes. Then, after I take notes, I stick them onto a page in my binder for each child. It sure makes it easier! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of focusing on the six traits. I am curious what skills you will focus on during small groups. Let me know when you get your groups started. I find it hard for me to get passed the obvious, such as this small groups is to work on spacing, capital letters, etc. Jsut curious what sort of groups you are pulling.
